JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Construction Buyer, you will play a crucial role in the procurement and sourcing processes for construction projects. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying and selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services. The goal is to secure high-quality
resources at the best possible prices to support the successful completion of construction projects. To support the construction and commercial teams in delivering the most cost effective execution of the projects.
THE ROLE
- Supplier Management; Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on their ability to meet project requirements, quality standards, and cost-effectiveness. Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and continually seek opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
- Negotiation; Agree favourable terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, delivery schedules,
and payment terms. Work to achieve cost savings and value-added benefits while maintaining quality and project specifications.
- Material Procurement; Source and purchase a range of building materials and plant equipment required for the construction projects that HadleyFRAME engage, ensuring they meet the technical specifications and standards required. Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring that materials arrive on-site in line with project schedules.
- Logistics Management; Chair a weekly procurement review meeting with the construction team, providing updates and enabling discussions to help plan resources and ensure all procurement activities are managed and controlled effectively.
- Contract Management; Develop and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements. Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Market Research; Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and availability of construction materials and services. Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Budget Management; Collaborate with project teams to develop and manage budgets for procurement activities. Play an active part in the CVR process. Monitor and control costs to ensure alignment with overall project financial goals.
- Reporting; Produce a monthly report on the buying activity and forward forecast, including cost analysis/ trends and supplier performance. Manage data within COINS to facilitate reports.
- Risk Management; Identify and assess potential risks related to the supply chain, and implement strategies to mitigate these risks. Stay updated on industry regulations and compliance requirements.
- Compliance and Documentation; Maintain accurate records of PQQ’s, Purchase Order, Contracts, and supplier information.
- Communication and Collaboration; Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraints. Communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure a smooth procurement process.

THE CANDIDATE
Education and Qualifications: Relevant Bachelor’s degree, i.e. Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, Business
Administration, or other related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in the construction industry.
