SFS Infill

Hadley Infill, Hadley’s cost-effective framing system, streamlines construction by minimizing the number of SFS components required..

This innovative system is designed to be installed between the floor and soffit of the hot rolled or concrete primary structure. The Hadley Slotted head track is securely attached to the soffit, allowing for deflection of the primary structure without compromising the structural integrity of the steel framing system.

The installation process begins with fixing a base track to the floor. The Hadley Slotted head track is then fixed to the soffit, providing support and flexibility for the system. Vertical studs are subsequently installed between the head and base tracks, creating a sturdy framework for the infill. These studs are securely fixed in position using Tek screws, ensuring stability and durability of the structure.

By optimizing the use of SFS components and incorporating features such as the slotted head track for deflection, Hadley Infill offers a cost-effective and efficient solution for framing between floors and soffits. This system provides a reliable and versatile option for construction projects, enabling quick and seamless installation while maintaining structural integrity and performance.

Parapets and Downstands

Utilizing Hadley’ project designed cantilever posts within the HadleySFS allows for the formation of parapets and downstands. These posts serve a dual purpose, breaking up wide openings and enabling the creation of ribbon windows.

Compound Sections

When higher capacity sections are required, single sections can be joined together to form compound sections. This method is particularly useful for jamb, cill, and lintel sections.

Zed Bars

Zed bars, such as the 40 x 50 x 40 x 2mm variant, are available in 2mm material and 4000mm length to be cut to size on site. These bars are commonly employed in situations where there isn’t adequate bearing at the head or base of the SFS panel. And to allow separation between hot rolled steel to allow the expansion of intumescent paint.

Slotted Head Track

The slotted head track from Hadley is designed to accommodate deflection in the primary structural frame without transferring any vertical load to the studs. Studs are securely fastened to the slotted head track via pre-formed slots.

Key Benefits

  • aster and simpler installation compared to conventional deflection brackets.
  • Streamlined and quicker installation in contrast to traditional masonry infill.
  • Reduced number of components on-site, minimizing storage requirements and potential for loss.
  • Fix and forget system eliminates concerns about missing brackets.
  • Vertical slots that accommodate +/- 25mm deflection TBC.

What is SFS Infill?

HadleySFS Infill System offers a range of stud and track sections crafted for easy comprehension and efficient selection during construction.

Each section type is denoted by a unique reference comprising two numerical values separated by a letter, providing clear information on the section’s depth, width, gauge, and whether it is lipped or un-lipped.

These clear and concise references make it easy for architects, engineers, and contractors to Identify sections during installation and quality assurance on site.

  • Stud Sections (lipped sections):

    Example stud reference – 150F5012
    150: Indicates a section depth of 150mm
F: Represents HadleySFS stud section (Lipped Section)
50: Denotes the width of the section flange, which is 50mm
12: Signifies the gauge (thickness) of the section, with 12 representing a thickness of 1.2mm

  • Track Sections (un-lipped sections):

    Example track reference – 154T7020
    154: Denotes a section depth of 154mm
T: Stands for HadleySFS Track (Always un-lipped)
70: Represents the width of the section flange, which is 70mm
20: Indicates the gauge (thickness) of the section, with 20 representing a thickness of 2.0mm

  • In cases where slotted sections are required to deal with building deflection, “S” is included in the section reference to denote slotted:

Example slotted track reference – 154TS7020
    154: Denotes a section depth of 154mm
T: Stands for HadleySFS Track (always un-lipped)
S: If included next to the “T” in the section reference, signifies that the section is slotted
70: Represents the width of the section flange, which is 70mm
20: Indicates the gauge (thickness) of the section, with 20 representing a thickness of 2.0mm

Colour Coding Explained

HadleySFS employs a labelling system for stud or joist sections, designed for quick comprehension and easy identification of section thicknesses. The Hadley name is printed down both flanges and color-coded as follows >

On our drawings, sections exceeding 2.5mm thickness or composed of multiple sections are highlighted in ORANGE to draw attention to them. Slotted head tracks and plain track sections are not color-coded but retain the section reference number on the web.

BLACK: 1.2mm thickness

RED: 1.5mm thickness

BLUE: 2.0mm thickness

GREEN: 2.5mm thickness

This color-coded and highlighted labelling system ensures that construction professionals can easily identify the thickness of stud or joist sections at a glance, facilitating efficient selection and assembly of HadleySFS components for their construction projects.
