Cold roll forming is a manufacturing process whereby solid metals (usually steel) are shaped. As its name suggests, cold roll forming involves producing shapes at room temperature or slightly above room temperature. Extremely accurate and complex shapes can be formed in a variety of lengths and a broad range of quantities.
As mentioned in our answer to Question 1, cold roll forming involves producing shapes at room temperature or just slightly above. In brief, hot rolled steel is steel which has been roll pressed with at very high temperatures.
There are several benefits for cold roll forming, one of which being the strength of the finished product. Cold rolled steel is up to 20% stronger than typical hot rolled steel. It is also the preferred manufacturing technique for furniture, cars and fencing due to its high quality, aesthetical finish.
There are a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals which can be roll formed. These include steel / stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper and lead.
