JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Construction Buyer, you will play a crucial role in the procurement and sourcing processes for construction projects. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying and selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services. The goal is to secure high-quality resources at the best possible prices to support the successful completion of construction projects.  To support the construction and commercial teams in delivering the most cost effective execution of the projects. 

THE ROLE
Supplier Management: 

Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on their ability to meet project requirements, quality standards, and cost-effectiveness. Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and continually seek opportunities for improvement and cost reduction. 

Sourcing and Procurement: 

Collaborate with preconstruction, commercial, construction and other stakeholders to understand material and service requirements for construction projects. Source and procure construction materials, equipment, and services in adherence to project timelines and budgets. Raise purchase orders and input data into the COINS system. 

Negotiation: 

Negotiate favourable terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms. Work to achieve cost savings and value-added benefits while maintaining quality and project specifications. 

Contract Management: 

Develop and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements. Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions as needed. 

Market Research: 

Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and availability of construction materials and services. Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and potential cost-saving opportunities. 

Budget Management: 

Collaborate with project teams to develop and manage budgets for procurement activities. Play an active part in the CVR process. Monitor and control costs to ensure alignment with overall project financial goals. 

Reporting: 

Produce a monthly report on the buying activity and forward forecast. Manage data within COINS to facilitate reports.  

Risk Management: 

Identify and assess potential risks related to the supply chain, and implement strategies to mitigate these risks. Stay updated on industry regulations and compliance requirements. 

Communication and Collaboration: 

Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraints. Communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure a smooth procurement process.
