Electrical Controls Engineer

JOB DETAILS

• Design electrical control systems for the operation and integration of new and existing special
  purpose machinery.
• Produce electrical drawings and schematics to meet ISO standards and regulatory
  requirements.
• Develop electrical design specifications and provide specialist knowledge of machinery control
  systems.
• Design and Develop safety systems to meet the requirements of the Machinery Directive, UKCA,
  and the company initiative of zero harm.
• Participate and actively engage with the design process of new machinery from launch through
  to final install.
• Provide high-quality technical support (fault finding, troubleshooting, diagnostics) for a wide
  range of special purpose machinery, often at short notice.
• PLC programming and editing of existing programs.
• Support procurement when sourcing alternative electrical components.
• Carry out site assessments, installations and modifications to electrical and control systems.
• Support maintenance on critical breakdowns (when required).
• Order parts when normal procurement routes are not available (absence, out of hours etc.)
• Support procurement with the selection and audit of suppliers and supply chain routes.
• Convert old drawings to updated CAD versions.
• Training of staff / knowledge to support the development of others within the company.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

• Europe, Dubai, Thailand, USA, and other worldwide locations as necessary. Approx. 1-3 times
  per year with a duration from 1-2 days up to 2 weeks as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education and Qualifications

• NVQ / HND / BTEC / Degree and industrial training. 18th Edition desirable.

Experience

• A strong, robust electrical engineering background, with controls systems experience, practical engineering experience (wiring/panel build etc), fault finding, and an understanding of current wiring regulations.
