JOB DESCRIPTION

Hadley group Technology, a leader at the forefront of engineering and innovation are looking for an ambitious Project Engineer who is ready to manage, lead and implement a suite of machinery and tooling projects to facilitate the continued growth of the business. We design and make our own special purpose machinery and tooling destined for our sites in the UK, Dubai, Thailand, The Netherlands and North America.

This role challenges you to engage with multiple departments within the business to plan, monitor and initiate key project deliverables. The Project Engineer is a key asset within the team, bridging the engineered solution from concept to manufacture and eventually into a live production environment. Working closely with the Engineering Project Manager and wider engineering functions. you will have authority to evaluate risk, create and manage schedules, monitor and control cost and critically; ensure effective communication and teamwork prevails, whilst delivering world class projects on time and to budget.

 

THE ROLE

  • Support co-ordination of new project enquiries to ensure critical information is captured within RFQs to ensure customer requirements are understood.
  • Develop project objectives and key milestones by using a phased or stage gate approach.
  • Generate, monitor and update all project documentation including Gantt chart, Risk Register, Responsibility Matrix, Action plans etc.
  • Structure and locate all project documentation to ensure all project detail is available to stakeholders.
  • Monitor creep and project performance. Update documents where required and engage with relevant team members.
  • Communicate project progress to all stakeholders with clear updates on the project deliverables.
  • Initiate and attend Design workshops, Project Update Meetings, and Technical Meetings providing support and council where necessary.
  • Work closely with the project team to deliver, and where appropriate personally generate, essential project documentation such as: Manuals, SOPs, Spare Lists, Production Paperwork, TPM scheduling and Capability Studies.
  • Conduct internal process and procedure audits to ensure adherence to the QMS.
  • Communicate and manage exceptions and changes to agreed contracts, liaising with Engineering Managers to agree action plans.
  • Attend, and if necessary, lead weekly project meetings to understand the status of live projects and communicate priorities.
  • Evaluate and communicate project performance with the project team (performance, cost, lead time).
  • Evaluate and improve project delivery using tools, processes and techniques e.g., FMEA, APQP, Value Stream Mapping, ECR’s.
  • Facilitate, document and assist Root Cause Problem Solving, and Lessons Learned activities.
  • Oversee the transaction of new projects in to first off production, to ascertain actual production data. Identify limiting factors, record performance against targets and make recommendations to improve.
  • Interpret Engineering drawings, and where necessary annotate and update CAD data.

 

THE CANDIDATE

  • Degree Level in an Engineering Discipline or completion of a technical apprenticeship with relevant experience or equivalent
  • Detailed knowledge of Engineering tooling, machinery or manufacturing processes.
  • Familiar with good engineering practice.
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing engineering projects.
  • Strong analytical skills, and technical problem solving.
  • Capable of understanding technical engineering drawings with applied GD&T
  • Fluent English
  • PC literate to a high degree of competency
  • Able to undertake comprehensive Risk Assessments.
  • Able to create and develop technical specifications and documentation
  • Able to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings
  • Able to create innovative solutions
  • Excellent problem solving skills – able to apply problem solving techniques e.g. 5 Whys/8D
  • Appreciation of production costs including waste, downtime, scrap and re-work
  • Communicates with clarity and demonstrate excellence in approach to work and people activities.
  • Strong organisation, communication and planning skills
  • Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time
