Mechanical Engineer

Location: Downing Street, Smethwick

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Machine Build Department within Hadley Group Technology on a permanent basis.

You will be responsible for facilitating the build and maintenance of mechanical equipment across the Hadley Group.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday – 8:30am – 5:00pm, Friday – 8:30am – 4:00pm

Roles and Responsibilites

  • Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure all special purpose rollforming equipment is assembled in line with company requirements.
  • Fit components such as motors, pneumatics and bearings.
  • Carry out tasks such as marking out, drilling, tapping, cutting and welding.
  • Complete post-build testing on completed machinery and subsections of machinery.
  • Attend machine breakdowns to support Design, Electrical and Maintenance Engineers.
  • Work independently and as a team on small and large scale projects.
  • Ensure company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Maintain a good standard of housekeeping throughout the work area, implementing 5S techniques.
  • Remain flexible regarding working hours to support project requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant Mechanical based qualifications (BTEC, City & Guilds etc.) essential.

  • Engineering apprenticeship (desirable).

  • Able to interpret Engineering Drawings.

  • Full UK Driving Licence.

  • Willing to travel between different sites & internationally when required.

  • Forklift Truck Licence (desirable).

The successful candidate must also have a strong Engineering background with knowledge and experience of:

    - Basic Engineering Skills.
    - Machine Build.
    - Mechanical Fitting and Assembly.
    - Pneumatics and Hydraulics.
    - Electrical Panel Build and Wiring (desirable).
